- INSTRUCTIONS - 72
-
- These instructions are brief, although they should be enough to enable
- you to use !Order. More details can be found in the file 'Instrucs'
-
- !Order is intended to make it easier for you to order things from APDL
- and it is very easy to use. When the program loads a window will open.
- This shows the total cost of your order, any unused Bonus points, etc. At
- the top are four buttons marked U.K., Europe, Other and Invoice. U.K. is
- selected by default, if you are not in the UK click on the appropriate
- button. If you are NOT sending payment with your order click on {'Invoice'}
-
- The button marked {Individual on HD} if selected will ensure that any
- Individual programs, Tracker or Digital Symphony tunes etc. will be
- delivered on high density 1.6Mb discs. The program will detect if you
- have a HD drive and set this automatically, and a message to this effect
- will appear during initialisation. If you {do} have a HD drive but {don't}
- want programs on HD discs then make sure you switch this option off.
-
- Please note that although !Order takes account of reduced Bonus discs and
- overseas order surcharges {it does NOT take account of extra postage on
- heavy items}. If you are ordering anything other than discs (please check
- the catalogue for extra postage) and add this to the total.
-
- At the bottom of the main window are a lot of buttons corresponding to
- the sections of the catalogue. As this window is rather tall some of
- these will probably be hiddenn and you will need to scroll the window
- to dee them all. If you click on one of these a window will open with a
- list of all the items available from that section. Just click on the
- one(s) you want and they will be 'selected' and the details in the main
- window updated. If you change your mind click on the item again and it
- will be deselected.
-
- As you accumulate Bonus points they are automatically used up the next
- time you select a 'normal' disc. Items are colour coded. Normal discs
- are dark grey, 1.6Mb discs are dark blue, 800K multi disc sets are dark
- green, 1.6Mb multi disc sets are red, and other items are black.
- Everything except standard discs will have its price shown.
-
- If you click MENU on the main window a menu will open. One of the items
- on this is {'Address'}. Select this and a window will open in which you
- can enter your name and address. Other items are {'Clear'}, which clears
- your entire selection, and {'Recalculate'} which will recalculate the cost
- of your order, using up any Bonus points in the most advantageous way.
- You may need to do this if you find that you have more than five unused
- Bonus points when you have completed your order.
-
- {'Print'} sends your order to the printer after displaying your name and
- address and asking you to confirm that it's correct. If you forgot to
- enter it this window will be blank which acts as a reminder. {'Save text'}
- saves your order as a text file. You can use this to check your order
- before printing it or to add any items not covered by the !Order
- program, for example, updating discs, odd numbers of blank discs, etc.
-
- If the printout is {'double spaced'} then you probably have your printer
- wrongly configured - click on {'Linefeed'} on the main menu so that it
- isn't 'ticked' and this should correct the problem.
-
- {'Page length'} allows you to set the length of each page if you have an
- order which is too big to fit on a single page. By default this is set
- to 66 lines, equivalent to 11 inch fanfold paper using the standard 6
- lines per inch. For A4 paper change this to 70, or for 12 inch to 72.
-
- {'Save order'} saves your order as a special file which can be reloaded
- into !Order. You can use this if you want to stop before you have
- completed your order and continue later. You can't actually reload this
- file into !Order while it's running, you must double-click on the file
- and !Order will start up with the file loaded.
-
- If you have used {!GIForder} or {!PCorder} to select some items from their
- respective sections you don't need to print those orders separately.
- Save the !GIForder or !PCorder file ({NOT} as a text file) and drag these
- files to the !Order ison on the icon bar. They will then be added to
- the rest of your order. When you print your order or save it as a Text
- file these items will be included.
-
- {NOTE} - When you save an !Order file any files ordered using !PCorder or
- !GIForder which have been 'added' to the order are not saved with it.
- You will need to reload these the next time you run !Order.
-
- If you don't have a printer you could send your file to APDL on disc. If
- you do {please send it as a Text file}, not an Order file. Don't just put
- the disc in a normal envelope, use a jiffy bag or some other protective
- packaging. Please also include a slip of paper with your {name and
- address} telling me that your order is on the disc. Discs can develop
- errors and if this happens and the disc is unreadable then if you
- haven't included your name and address I can't contact you to tell you.
